Psychology
The Department of Psychology offers graduate study in the areas of clinical psychology, social psychology, and brain and cognitive science.

Degrees offered: Master of Arts (requirement toward Ph.D. only), Doctor of Philosophy

Application deadlines for fall 2010: December 1, 2009 (clinical area); January 1, 2010 (other areas)

Financial aid deadline for fall 2010: January 1, 2010

Test required: Graduate Record Examination (GRE). International students should submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score.

Other admission requirements: Applicants should submit three letters of recommendation, transcripts, GRE scores, and a statement of purpose.

Program requirements: For the master's degree, students complete a course in research methods, two courses in statistics, and a master's thesis. In addition to course work in their sub-area, all students take two seminars outside of their specific program. The comprehensive exam must be passed prior to working on a dissertation. Also, students should obtain some type of teaching experience. Specific sub-areas may have additional requirements.
