Shannon Quinn
Environmental Sciences (concentration in Urban Planning and Public Information)
Personal: A native of San Antonio, Texas, Shannon earned an undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of Texas in Arlington.
Career goals: Shannon plans to work for a consulting firm that promotes sustainable building materials in construction and environmental/sustainable work practices.
Under construction: Before starting graduate school, Shannon gained experience developing construction documentation at an architecture firm whose clients included Wetzels Pretzels, Wilson Leather, and Gymboree.
Practical application: Shannon currently works at the weather station located on the grounds of Miami's Ecology Resource Center. She collects weather data, including temperature, water evaporation, and precipitation, for the National Weather Serivce and for CASTNET and NADP, national networks that monitor air and water pollutant to determine the effectiveness of emission control programs.
Program perks: "I chose Miami University because of its environmental program.
