Sagar Rijal
English (concentration in creative writing)
Personal: Before coming to Miami, Sagar graduated with a degree in Communication Arts from Bellevue University in Nebraska.
Practical experience: Sagar is currently an assistant director at the new Howe Center for Writing Excellence, located on the first floor of King Library. The main goal of the center is to bring writing to the forefront of intellectual activity at Miami.
Career goals: Sagar hopes to write fiction that is meaningful in exploring relationships—not just between individuals but between the segments of global society.
New perspectives: "The creative writing program has taught me to appreciate fiction on a personal level. I am learning to think like an author in terms of plot, characters, and conflict."
Learning environment: "Like the town of Oxford, the creative writing program at Miami is small and personable. Since my undergraduate degree was not in creative writing, I very much wanted to come to a program where I could be in a tight-knit community of writers."
