Jennifer Robbins Hamilton
Political Science (Ph.D.)

Personal: From Coldwater, OH, Jennifer received her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Wright State University.

Gaining interest: Jennifer worked for a Head Start organization along with some non-profit lobbying groups, which led to her interest in politics.

Career goals:
Jennifer would like to combine her background in social work with the knowledge she's gained in political science to work for a social services agency in lobbying, policy work, or direct services to clients.

New perspectives: For her dissertation, Jennifer is studying how interest groups speak to members of Congress. "I'm discovering which groups are influential and how they attempt to be influential through their use of the media."

Personal attention: "Miami has very diverse and knowledgeable political science faculty members. Doors are always open to graduate students, and we have really good discussions in seminars with our small class sizes."
