Bill Cosby part of Miami's Bicentennial Family Weekend

Bill Cosby returns to Miami for the Bicentennial Family Weekend, performing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in Millett Hall. Other highlights include the world premiere of "Down in Mississippi: A Gospel Play with Music" and a Global Rhythms Ensemble.

Two new graduate programs approved by OBOR

Miami University received final approval from the Ohio Board of Regents to add two new graduate programs - a doctoral-level program in ecology, evolutionary and environmental biology (EEEB), and a master's/doctoral-level program in cellular, molecular and structural biology (CMSB). Both programs will begin accepting students in the fall of 2010.

Irvin Lecture: "Trauma, Theory, Testimony" Oct. 7

Thomas Trezise, associate professor of French at Princeton University, will present "Trauma, Theory, Testimony" at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in 1 Alumni Hall. His talk, sponsored by the L.P. Irvin Fund of the department of French and Italian, will address critical reflections on the theory of trauma and its implications for the acceptance of Holocaust survivor testimony.

Symphony Orchestra performs "Music with a Curse"

Miami University Symphony Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Hall Auditorium. Ricardo Averbach will conduct. Admission is free.

United Way campaign kick off

The Miami University United Way Campaign kicks off Thursday, Oct. 1, and runs through Oct. 31. Miami donors can make payroll deductions.
