The department:

• Patrols campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by car, bicycle, and on foot.
• Evaluates reported crimes, conducts investigations, and effects arrests.
• Enforces all state and local laws.
• Works cooperatively with the Oxford police and other local law enforcement agencies.
• Works cooperatively with the Office of Judicial Affairs (now called Ethics and Student Conflict Resolution) to enforce Miami's Code of Student Conduct.
• Distributes campus crime alerts.

Registration of Sexual Predators

Under Ohio's Sex Offender Registration and Notification (SORN) law, responsibility for registration of sexual predators has been assigned to the sheriff's office. Information concerning the presence of registered sex offenders is available at the Butler County Sheriff's website, www.butlersheriff.org.
