University Commencement Ceremony
The Spring 2008 university commencement will be Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. in Yager Stadium, rain or shine.
President David C. Hodge will preside at the ceremony. During the ceremony, doctoral candidates will be individually recognized and hooded; master's degree candidates will be individually recognized; baccalaureate and associate's degree candidates will be recognized by their respective college or school; and ROTC candidates will be commissioned. All candidates will walk across the stage and have their photograph taken.
Arrival Time
Yager Stadium will open at 11 a.m. Families and guests may enter through the south and west gates. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2 p.m. and run for approximately two hours.
Tickets
No tickets are required for the commencement exercises.
Seating
Ushers will direct guests to their seats. The Yager Stadium diagram (PDF 61KB) indicates where graduation candidates will be seated. It is included for your convenience in determining where in the stadium you may wish to sit.
Inclement Weather
The university commencement ceremony will still occur at Yager Stadium if it rains. Candidates and their guests are advised to dress appropriately. While umbrellas are not encouraged, their use will not be barred from the stadium if it is raining. In the event of severe weather, such as tornadoes, severe thunderstorms or a torrential downpour, the university ceremony may be shortened and/or canceled. Any decision to cancel the ceremony will be announced by noon on WMUB (88.5 FM) and on this website. (If the ceremony is canceled, a Graduate School ceremony for master's and doctoral degree candidates will be held in Millett Assembly Hall.)

General Information
- At the conclusion of the ceremony, only the platform party will recess out of the stadium; the candidates will remain on the field.
- The Miami University Police will be on duty at Yager Stadium to assist with any emergencies. There will also be a first-aid station on the west concourse.
- Traffic in the Oxford area will be extremely congested on commencement weekend. Please heed the directional signs that will be posted to aid traffic flow to Yager Stadium and Saturday's venues. We strongly encourage visitors to take advantage of the shuttle service from the Ditmer and Cook Field parking lots to Yager Stadium.
- Before leaving Yager Stadium, please be sure that you have all personal belongings. Any items left behind will be taken to the University Police. You may also call 513-529-8135 regarding lost property.
