Miami University Security Preparedness
Miami University is committed to ensuring a safe environment for our students, faculty and staff. Although our Oxford campus is located in a rural area and our Hamilton and Middletown campuses are also outside of major metropolitan areas, we believe that the current world situation requires us to be prepared to deal with emergencies of many types.
This Web site is designed to provide you with important information in the event of an emergency.
What students and parents should know:
- This Web site will be updated on an ongoing basis. It will be a link to information about emergency procedures and contacts.
- Although the university has received no terrorist threats, emergency plans--developed and refined over the past several yearsare in place. We are well prepared to respond to emergency situations.
- It is important that all Miami students register their primary e-mail account (the address you most often use) with the university. The university will be communicating to students via e-mail in the event of an emergency. Go to Miami's online directory to be sure that you have listed the e-mail address you are currently using. Go to myMiami then click on the link labeled "Directory (Phonebook)". Key in your UniqueID and click "Register/Modify".
