College Entrance Testing

Miami's institutional code numbers:
ACT: 3294
SAT: 1463

Miami requires official scores on the ACT or the SAT Reasoning Test. The only exception is if you are at least 22 years of age and have been out of high school five or more years. Miami also accepts ACT and SAT scores from tests taken under non-standard conditions. We strongly urge you to take these tests as early as possible. Official test scores from your junior year are acceptable; however, if you have tested more than once, you should see that your best scores are sent. Miami does not consider SAT Subject Tests in our admission review. Miami accepts only test scores reported directly from the testing agencies.

Applicants from the U.S. who believe their English language skills have affected their Standardized Test Scores have the option of submitting the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). This will be considered supplementary information to other standardized tests.

Writing Exam

While it will not play a role in our decisions for Fall 2009 admission, the ACT/SAT writing exam is required. Data collected from the writing scores help us to assess whether or not they are useful for making better admission decisions, and therefore, should be incorporated in our application review process in the future.

Test Dates

If you are applying for Early Decision or Early Action, please plan to test early. We cannot make a decision on your application without test scores. For calendar dates, registration deadlines, and fees, visit the ACT or the College Board (SAT).
