International First-Year—Spring or Fall 2012

To apply for first-year admission* as an international student, submit the following items online or send to the address below. Do not send duplicate materials, as it will delay processing.

  • $70 Application Fee (non-refundable)
    You may pay this fee by credit card when submitting the Common Application and the Miami Supplement online. Or, you can pay this fee by postal mail with a check or money order in U.S. currency made payable to Miami University.

    The International Student Financial Support Form must be accompanied by documentation providing proof of financial support.
  • Recommendation
    A recommendation must be submitted on your behalf. This recommendation can be in the form of a letter; the School Report (PDF 168KB), completed by your school official; or the Teacher Evaluation (PDF 246KB), completed by a teacher. The recommendation must be submitted directly from the school official or teacher. Only one recommendation is required.
  • Official Academic Records
    Academic records include all secondary studies completed to date and proof of secondary school graduation, if applicable.
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency
    Send official TOEFL or IELTS test score to Miami or provide alternative proof of English language proficiency.
  • ACT/SAT Test Scores (if applicable)
    Standardized tests are generally not required but are recommended for international students.

Additional Application Requirements

We do not conduct interviews as part of the general admission process.

School of Fine Arts
Students pursuing the following majors are required to submit a portfolio and/or schedule an audition by the application deadline: architecture, interior design, art, art education, graphic design, music, music education, music performance, and theatre. For specific admission requirements for each major, contact the School at 513-529-6010.

Honors Program
Miami University's Honors Program provides a number of unique opportunities for high-ability students. Honors applicants who wish to be considered for Miami's premier scholarship, the Harrison Scholarship, must apply as Early Decision or Early Action candidates, and all application materials, including those for admission, are due by November 3. Students who do not wish to be considered for the Harrison Scholarship may still apply for the University Honors Program and for Miami admission as Early Action or Regular Decision candidates.
