Bridges

Miami University is proud to present the 2012 "Bridges" program. This experience is designed for high-achieving underrepresented high school seniors (Class of 2013) from all over the nation who are interested in learning more about the educational opportunities at Miami. This is an all-expense paid (meals, lodging, entertainment, etc.) overnight program on Miami's beautiful campus in Oxford, Ohio.

Bridges Scholarship

Students who successfully complete the program, are accepted for Fall 2013 admission, and enroll at Miami University, Oxford campus, will receive a scholarship awarded only to Bridges students.

This includes two Personal Statements. You will not be able to save your work before submitting the application online, so please be prepared to answer the following questions (250 words each):

1. One definition of diversity is, "A concept that encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. It is the exploration of these differences in a sage, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerances to embrace and celebrate the rich dimensions of differences contained within each individual." Given this definition, what does diversity mean to you, and how will you contribute to a diverse college community?

2. Describe the world where you come from (e.g., your family, clubs, school, community, city, or town). How has that world shaped your dreams and aspirations?

Transportation

Round-trip transportation will be provided from select cities, airports, and bus stations for the sessions below:

Session I: October 28-29
Akron, Cleveland, and Toledo

Session II: November 4-5
Chillicothe, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Hamilton, and Middletown

Session III: November 18-19
Cincinnati and Dayton airports/bus stations

Pick-up and drop-off locations and times will be posted in early October for sstudents who are accepted to the Bridges program. Please check back then for more details.
