What is Supply Chain and Operations Management (SCM)?
This major provides an understanding of supply chain and operations management as a key business strategy. It enables students to develop skills for integrating key functions of procurement, production, marketing, logistics, accounting, and management informations systems, leading to successful operation of the entire SCM process.
What are the features of Miami's program?

It is fully accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the sole accrediting agency for programs in business administration and accounting. Only 22 percent of American business schools have all of their programs accredited by the AACSB.

Are there special admission requirements?
Admission to the Farmer School of Business is limited, and the criteria for admission are subject to change as enrollment demands vary.
Entering freshmen who are admitted to and participate in the School of Business Honors Program are afforded regular business standing upon initial enrollment. All other entering freshmen are admitted to the School as "pre-business" majors and advance to regular business upon successful completion of all admission requirements. These requirements include 60 semester hours in courses such as Calculus, Introduction to Financial Accounting, and Business Statistics. A 3.0 g.p.a. in all business core courses and Miami Plan Foundation courses is also necessary.
What courses would I take?
This major combines courses in accountancy, decision sciences, management, and marketing. The "aerial view" of the four disciplines allows students to understand the interaction between them and how to move goods and services in the most economical way. This area of study is on the cutting edge of business practice. Students learn practical industry applications with the aid of field trips, guest speakers, and simulations in the classroom.
What can I do with this major?
Depending on the size of the organization, you may have a variety of responsibilities or you may focus on just one area of the supply chain. Some supply managers are actively involved in product design and development, while others may focus on contract development and forecasting. You may have the opportunity to expand your duties into such areas as planning and policymaking, motivation, evaluation, product development, and inventory control.
