Researching History Where It was Made

History major Katie Bibish spent three weeks of her summer in St. Petersburg and Moscow studying Soviet/Russian history and observing the legacy of Joseph Stalin.

Providing incentive to study abroad, the Russian Cultural Workshop allows students to immerse themselves in Russian culture through activities, excursions, and lectures from Miami faculty while applying their experiences to a specific academic discipline.

Katie received funding and academic credit through the Summer Scholars program.

After returning home, Katie met regularly with history professor Stephen Norris to continue her study of Stalin's legacy in the West and Russia, the subject of her senior honors thesis.
