Shriver Center viewed from Fine Arts Plaza |
Begin at Shriver Center (c. 1957), a central gathering place for Miamians. Named for Phillip R. Shriver, president of Miami from 1965 to 1981, the building was expanded in 1988 and houses the Haines Food Court, formal dining room, bookstore, post office, commuting student center, study lounge, games room, and student organization offices. Before you exit the west lobby near the bookstore, be sure to examine the displays in the Miami Indian Room which illustrate the university's ties to the Miami Tribe.
