High Academic Standards
- In BusinessWeek magazine's latest ranking of undergraduate business programs, Miami's Farmer School of Business appears among the nation's top 5%, ranking 8th among public universities and colleges. (2012)
- In survey results released by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review, Miami University's Center for Social Entrepreneurship ranks 15th in the nation for undergraduate entrepreneurship programs. (2011)
- In the latest Institute for International Education report on the number of students studying abroad, Miami ranks 2nd among public doctoral institutions nationwide. The latest figures show 41% of Miami students study abroad before they graduate. (2011)
- In the 2010 edition of America's Best Colleges, U.S. News ranks Miami's engineering program 26th in the nation in the category of "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs where the highest degree is a bachelor's or master's."
- Miami's Interior Design program is ranked 9th in the nation, according to the 2009 edition of "America's Best Architecture & Design Schools" published by DesignIntelligence magazine. This annual report is considered the definitive school ranking as determined by design firms that hire recent college graduates.
- In a recent report of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) assessing the extent to which students engage in "educationally effective" activities, scores reflecting the academic experiences of Miami first-year students and seniors were higher than the national average in all five benchmark categories. - Once again, the latest data on student retention shows that nearly 90% of first-year students return for their sophomore year. (2009)
- Miami's graduation rates are among the highest nationally, in the top 10 among public universities (excluding military academies), and first in Ohio.
- Miami seniors applying to law schools for the 2009–2010 school year were accepted at a rate of 92%, compared to a national average of 77%. In recent years, Miami students have been accepted to the nation's top law schools, including Harvard and Columbia.
- The medical school acceptance rate for Miami students is 61%, compared to 45% nationally. The figure rises to 86% for Miami students who are able to maintain a 3.4 overall GPA, 3.4 science GPA, and score no less than 8 on any section of the MCAT. (2011)
- Miami's undergraduate and master's degree programs in accountancy were ranked 17th and 25th in the nation, respectively, by Public Accounting Report. (2011)
- Because our academic reputation is a magnet for employers, Miami sponsors one of the largest collegiate career fairs in the country. Compared with on-campus recruitment programs at other universities our size, nearly twice as many employers recruit at Miami, and four times as many on-campus interviews are conducted. (2009)
- Miami is among a select group of universities in the nation that have produced a Rhodes Scholar, a Truman Scholar, and a Goldwater Scholar in the same academic year. Other schools in this select group are Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Duke, Stanford, Syracuse, and the University of Washington.
