AROUND
THE CAMPUS |
By
April 13, Western Program seniors were on the home stretch. Senior
projects were near enough to completion that there was time to
enjoy toasts at the Senior Dinner Celebration -- following the
tradition of our Senior Day -- as well as some fun and games
around campus. Later in the month, the projects were formally
presented over a three-day period. A printed program, with
original art by our own WCAS recipient, Elisabeth Price, thanked
"the Western College Alumnae Association for continued generous
support of the Western College Program." For a firsthand
appreciation of Beth's
work, look at her young people's book, The Ghosts of
Westbury College, which she wrote and illustrated as her
senior project. On May 8, the year climaxed with the dramatic
candle-lighting ceremony at graduation in Kumler Chapel.

Sipe Gerber '52, who spoke of Western tradition and

senior Christian Ratterman on becoming the fourth person
to be named on the
Jacqueline S. Wallace plaque for contributing most to the
cooperative spirit of the Senior Workshop. The Jacqueline
Wallace Fund, made possible by gifts from many alumnae
through the 1999 Reunion/Class Gift, provides support to
seniors who need financial assistance to do their senior
projects.
