THE NARKA NELSON CIRCLE
Narka Nelson loved Western College. Earnest
student in the Class of 1920, passionate classics
professor until retirement in 1965, official college
historian -- she was made an Honorary Life Trustee,
awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters from
Western, and appointed to the Committee on the Future of
the College in 1969.
Narka Nelson gave herself to Western College during her
lifetime. And when she died in 1974, she was
mindful of keeping the Western spirit alive. After
providing for family, she contributed a large share of
her estate to benefit Western. To thank and
recognize alumnae who have made provisions through
deferred gift commitments to support education and human
values "in the spirit of Western," the Narka
Nelson Circle was established.

Membership is open to all individuals who have included
a provision to support Western through a bequest, living
trust, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder
trust, pooled income fund account, provision in a
retirement plan or IRA, insurance policy, or remainder
interest in a residence or a farm. |
Members are listed in the Spring Bulletin and
receive a pin designed exclusively for the Narka Nelson
Circle. To receive information about becoming a
