NEW AT THE MIAMI UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION |
Alumni Awards nominations due!
The Alumni Association is seeking nominations of outstanding alumni who deserve to be recognized. The Alumni Association annually honors alumni and friends of Miami whose contributions to the university, the alumni association or to society in general are significant. Please review the list of alumni awards, and consider nominating a worthy person today. For consideration for this fall's awards dinner, nominations must be received by March 15.
Cincinnati-area alumni have the opportunity to meet several of Miami's winter sports coaches at a special HawkTawk Live event Thursday, February 7, at Buffalo Wild Wings in West Chester. Full details can be found here. Come out and celebrate Miami's winter sports success!
Sunday, April 20, is Miami Day at the Cincinnati Reds Game. Watch the Reds as they take on the Milwaukee Brewers at 1:15 p.m. All Miamians; students, faculty, staff and alumni will be able to purchase tickets at ½ price - a great savings! Bleacher seats that are regularly $10 will be just $5 for this special day (plus a convenience fee if ordered online or $3 per group sales order). In addition there will be a number of special Miami-focused activities, including performances by Miami musical groups. This promises to be a great event, so save the date today!
Stay tuned to the Alumni Association web site for updates on post-season tournament action as well, from the CCHA Tournament at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit to the MAC Basketball tournament in Cleveland, there's lots of excitement ahead. Details for all events will be available on the Alumni Athletic Events webpage as the brackets unfold.

Big Year for Miami Donations, Campaign in 2007
Miami University received $44.5 million in 2007, the second-highest cash total received in a calendar year. The highest year was in 2006, led by the unexpected $13.5 million bequest of Lois Klawon ’39, which is now funding the Miami Access Initiative.
Taylor gift provides crucial auditorium space for Farmer School of Business
An $8.5 million gift from Robert and Mary Kay Taylor will support a crucial element in the comprehensive new home for Miami University's Farmer School of Business.

Miami again named to Kiplinger's
"100 Best Values in Public Colleges"
Miami University is included as one of the "100 Best Values in Public Colleges" by Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine. The February 2008 issue ranks Miami as the top bargain in Ohio and 31st nationally, up seven spots from 2007.
Miami 8th on Peace Corps top 25 list
Miami University is ranked number eight on the Peace Corps' top 25 list for medium-sized schools, with 42 alumni currently serving as volunteers - up from 34 volunteers and 12th place in 2007.
