Miami Mysteries
Although Halloween is now over, we thought you might enjoy hearing a few of "Miami's Mysteries" as told by President Emeritus Phil Shriver, to an audience gathered in October 1982. These classic tales are brought to life as only Dr. Shriver can, and I'm sure you will enjoy them. Listen to them online.
It's never too early to start thinking of Reunion Weekend. Celebrated June 14-17 this year, it is the perfect time to gather your friends for a weekend in Oxford. I encourage you to visit our Reunion Weekend site, and join us in making plans for your reunion. All alumni are welcome, and the fun only increases when your friends are here with you. Campaign celebration moves beyond Oxford
With four gala events this fall, members of the Miami University community beyond campus have been able to join the excitement of The Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor. At the events, guests also had the opportunity to meet Miami 's new president David Hodge and his wife, Valerie.

President sees fusion of teaching, scholarship and service in Miami's future
In his Oct. 20 inaugural address as Miami's 21st president, David C. Hodge spoke of “the heart of Miami's future, namely the creation of a learning environment that is unmatched by its excitement and accomplishment."

Sandra Day O'Connor to speak Nov. 14
Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, as the 2006 Jack R. Anderson Distinguished Lecturer. Her lecture, in Millett Hall, is free and open to the public.
Wicked author Gregory Maguire to speak Nov. 13
Award-winning novelist and children's author Gregory Maguire will present “Wicked" at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, in Hall Auditorium, part of the 2006-2007 Miami University Lecture Series.
John Kiss' experiment on board International Space Station
The crew of the International Space Station (ISS) began running Miami botanist John Kiss' experiment “Tropi" Oct. 16, after successful delivery of the project by the space shuttle Discovery in July.
Researchers discover Antarctic insect survival strategy
An unusual survival strategy by the world's southernmost insect has been discovered by a team of researchers from Miami and Ohio State universities. Richard Lee, Distinguished Professor of Zoology, and Miami doctoral student Michael Elnitsky are among the authors of the study published in the Sept. 19 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
NIH Grant funds diabetes research at Miami
Cary Kart, senior researcher with Miami's Scripps Gerontology Center (SGC) and Jennifer Kinney (sociology and gerontology, Scripps fellow) have been awarded a two-year $173,971 grant from The National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study racial and ethnic disparities in management of diabetes.
