WHAT'S NEW AT THE MIAMI UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION |
Happy Fourth of July!
It seems a little strange to start thinking about football in July, but plans are nearly complete for our fall football travels. Your Alumni Association is hosting pregame meals and pep rallys at three major non-conference away games this fall, including Minnesota, Colorado and Vanderbilt. The team looks to be much improved, and it is always fun to gather with fellow Miamians in a stadium far from Oxford. Please consider joining us for one or all of these exciting games. Details on meals and hotel space can be found here.
I also hope you enjoy a new feature available to members - podcasts of some of Miami's outstanding faculty lecturing on a variety of fascinating subjects. Our first podcasts are taken from Winter College 2007, and more will be available in the coming months. Visit our podcasts webpage for more information.
Though Reunion Weekend is barely behind us, we are already making plans for next year. This year's highlight was a performance by more than 320 alumni of the Men's Glee Club, a concert people are still talking about. Each year, the weekend gets bigger and better, and I hope you are making plans now to be with us June 12-15, 2008. Visit our Reunion Weekend page to enjoy our photo galleries of Reunion Weekend 2007. Trustees keep in-state tuition within state max: Out-of-state students to pay six percent more
Miami University must wait until Ohio passes its 2007-2008 budget before knowing if it will hold tuition at last year's rate - as is currently proposed in House and Senate language - or if it may increase tuition slightly, also possible, based on a final version of the state's budget bill. Today (June 22) Miami trustees passed a resolution to confirm the school's tuition will be consistent with the state's budget. Trustees passed a 6 percent increase for out-of-state students.
