It's also not too early to begin thinking about Miami's 2007 football season. The Alumni Association has organized a travel package to Boulder, Colo., for the Sept. 22 game with the Colorado Buffalos, and will have hotel rooms reserved and pregame events planned at Minnesota (Sept. 8) and Vanderbilt (Oct. 27) as well. Visit the Alumni Athletic Events webpage for the latest information, and plan to follow the RedHawks this fall!
Later next month we will launch a new Alumni Association web page design. This design will be easier to read and navigate, and will feature additional information and more functionality. Be sure to check back next month, and let us know what you think.

New initiative to support faculty announced
Miami University plans to increase its number of endowed professorships threefold through a new initiative using matching funds to reach a new goal of 100 endowed professorships/ chairs, announced President David Hodge.
Miami faculty, staff and retiree endowment program
A special initiative has been announced to support Miami employees who would like to create a permanent legacy at the university.

James Lentini to become dean of fine arts
James Lentini, dean of the School of Art, Media and Music at The College of New Jersey, has been named dean of the School of Fine Arts at Miami University.
Miami President Hodge opens national convention
University President David Hodge gave the keynote address April 19, opening the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) annual conference on Academic Renewal.
Lee and Winkler awarded Benjamin Harrison medallions
Richard E. Lee Jr., Distinguished Professor of Zoology, and Allan M. Winkler, Distinguished Professor of History, were awarded the university's prestigious Benjamin Harrison Medallion at faculty assembly April 18.
Miami part of Ohio third frontier grant for IDCAST
Miami University is a collaborative partner with lead institution the University of Dayton and a host of other partner organizations in a $28 million Ohio Third Frontier Wright Center of Innovation Grant awarded recently to establish the Institute for Development and Commercialization of Advanced Sensor Technology (IDCAST). Miami's share of IDCAST is $1 million in equipment.
